- The fee for the contest shall be $150.00 per contestant of six or less, $250 for seven or more. This fee is not refundable under any circumstances.
- Anyone can enter soloists, ensemble, duo, group or choirs.
- All songs must be original or standards. Standards are songs in the Public Domain which do not require a clearance for use. (Example "Amazing Grace").
- Inspirational music is any music that inspires and promotes positivity. Songs do not have to be of a religious nature. Any song, original or standard is eligible.
- Auditions will take place on July 20-21, 2006 at the Detroit School of Arts.
- All songs must be performed accapella. No instruments are allowed for auditions.
- 24 candidates will be selected to advance to the internet and Comcast viewing round where the public will vote to determine the 12 semi-finalists. Semi-final voting will begin August 11, 2006 to determine the 7 finalists. Winners of each round will be posted regularly on this site. Finals will air on WXYZ Channel 7, Saturday August 26, 2006.
- You must pre-register in order to get an audition.
- Once you have paid your registration fee, you will receive a conformation receipt
and be notified of the time and place for your audition.
- Public on-line voting begins August 11, 2006
- No contestant may use profanity or suggestive lyrics. All songs must be
"clean" positive songs of uplift.

- All contestants must sign a name, image, and likeness waiver. All images
recorded shall remain the property of Detroit Inspiration. No fees or other
payment arrangements shall be claimable by any contestant. By entering this
contest, all fees, performance royalties, appearance royalties or payments of any kind by any contestant are waived. All contestants also waive any right, claim, title or interest in any fee, royalty or payment for the use of any original song or songs by that contestant in this competition. If the contestant uses original material and is affiliated with ASCAP or BMI or any other royalty collection entity, said contestant shall notify such entity immediately of this waiver for the right to receive payment in any form. Any failure by the contestant to notify said collection entity shall not constitute a rescission of the waiver for payment.
All contestants agree to hold harmless and indemnify the Detroit Inspiration group, all agents, assigns, designates, and affiliates of this competition from any and all injuries which may occur as a result of participation in this competition. This waiver includes but is not limited to personal or emotional injuries, torts, premises injuries or any other incident arising out of any contestant participating in this competition
